About us

Once upon a time, in a land far from home, a Nigerian immigrant couple longed for the taste of home, the vibrant flavors of African cuisine, and the joy of community gatherings around food. They often found themselves asking the question, "what do we eat now?" as they struggled to find the ingredients they needed to recreate the taste of home in their new country.

Driven by their love and passion for their people, they decided to take matters into their own hands. In 2022, they took a leap of faith and founded Mile 12 African Store in their new home of Canada.

Mile 12 African Store was not just another grocery store. It was a labor of love, born from a deep desire to provide affordable and authentic African and Nigerian products to their fellow immigrants and the wider community. We poured our heart and soul into the store, hand-selecting the best quality ingredients and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at home.

But Mile 12 African Store was not just about business. We had a bigger mission in mind. To build a community, a place where people could connect, share stories, and celebrate and enjoy their African heritage.
